Since 1995, the Greater Sacramento Chapter of NECA and the IBEW Local 340 have been hosting the Drive fore Charities to enrich and improve the lives of the students in the Sacramento community. Year after year, our members, business partners and associates have generously contributed to raise over $500,000 for a wide variety of charities and local causes.

Since 2009, we have designated proceeds from the tournament to the Sacramento State Construction Management Program – NECA Student Chapter. This program creates an entrepreneurial pathway for students by partnering with industry professionals who create strong correlations between education and application.  Our NECA Student Chapter at Sacramento State is given an opportunity to participate in The Associated School of Construction (ASC) Student Competition held each year in Reno, NV. This is one of the largest construction management and construction engineering events in the nation where teams of students must create a proposal consisting of an estimate, a schedule, a logistics plan, and answers to a number of special problems. This competition brings together over 42 college campuses across the US including Auburn University, Penn State University, University of Southern California, Oregon State University and California Polytechnic State University to name a few.

The Greater Sacramento NECA student team has won four national championships at the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Electrical Competition. We have placed 30 team members with NECA contractors in Northern, CA.

A few charities and causes that we have donated to over the years:

Since 1985, they have served over 30,000 women and children.
